The Mercantile is nestled inside the beautiful Vanderpoel House (c.1820)….also known as The House of History, a Columbia County Historical Society property. The jewel-box of a shop (225sf) celebrates our local history and the beauty of the region with a thoughtful range of products and locally crafted goods, including beautiful merchandise made exclusively for the shop:
Hillsdale’s Hudson Valley Letterpress has created custom Martin Van Buren letter-pressed gift tags, Kinderhook’s Dough and Batter has created Vanderpoel House cookies, and Mary Ahern of Hudson’s Florent has created a bespoke natural perfume- No.16– that is inspired by the original gardens on the property. Melissa Davis has created Columbia County paperweights that are made from antique glass paperweights and images from the CCHS collections.
